University of Richmond Women's Cross Country Wins Mason Invitational

George Mason's women's cross country team finished 11th at the Mason Invitational held today at Bull Run Regional Park in Manassas, Va. The University of Richmond team won followed by Charlotte and American University.

The University of Richmond scored 27 points with five runners finishing in the top 10 to outdistance Charlotte, who had two runners, Tsehaye Dagnachew and Jane Daniels, finish second and third overall, earning a combined three points for their team which finished with 44 points. The overall winner Heather Lee ran unattached and finished the 6k course in a time of 21.23.13. The Spiders had five runners finish in the next four of five spots to take top team honors.

The Patriots were led by Allison Romanow, finishing in 42nd place overall with a time of 24:25.73. Alicia York finished in a time of 24:38.34 and 49th overall for Mason. Danielle Turner, Candace Carter and Joanna Bailey rounded out the scoring for the Patriots, who finished with 259 total points.

American University edged out Elon University by 15 points for third place with a team score of 95. The team from UNC-Wilmington finished in fifth with 159 points in the 12 team race.
