Mason Places Ninth at GW Invitational

CENTREVILLE, VA ... The George Mason women's cross country team competed at the George Washington Invitational Saturday at Bull Run Regional Park, located west of Centreville, VA, and scored 246 points to place ninth among the 14 teams.

Georgetown won the women's race with 34 points, edging American (40).

Junior Sara Hines led the Patriot women for the third week in a row as she finished 37th overall (out of 160 runners) with a time of 20 minutes, 44.7 seconds over the 5,000-meter course. She was followed by senior Dana Early, who was 52nd in 21:06.1; junior Nicole Holifield, 61st in 21:31.4; senior Rose Moeser, 78th in 22:13.5, and junior Ryann Holmes, 79th in 22:17.5. For scoring purposes (the placing of the top five finishers determines the team score), Hines was 31st, Early was 44th, Holifield 50th, Moeser 60th and Holmes 61st.

Both George Mason teams will host the annual Mason Invitational Saturday on the same course at Bull Run Regional Park. The women's race will begin at 10 a.m., with the men to follow at 10:40 a.m.
