Patriot Cross Country Teams Compete at James Madison

The George Mason women's and men's cross country teams competed at James Madison University this weekend and the women fininshed fifth just behind fourth-place Howard while the men were ninth.

The women's team had a score of 154 with the top five runners finishing within 23 minutes, six seconds. Freshman Melissa Ferry was the team's top finisher, coming in 24th in a time of 21:52. Senior Sara Hines finished right after her in 21:57. Alicia York was the next Patriot to cross the line, finishing 36th with a time of 22:19. Julia Gaudet and Erika Woodworth finished 48th and 49th, respectively, both recording times of 23:06.

The men's team had three runners finish in fewer than 30 minutes.

Dennis Moriarty was the team's top finisher with a time of 28:26.96. He was the 48th runner to cross the line. Ricardo Cunningham followed Moriarty by finishing 52nd with a time of 28:50.09. Ben Sommers was the other Patriot to break 30 minutes as he finished 66th with a time of 29:49.65.

Charles Bowles was the fourth-place finisher for the Patriots with a time of 31:06.21. He was 73rd. Paul Gilbride was 81st with a time of 32:43.44.

The Patriots compete again next week at the George Washington Invitational.
