Mason Fifth at Towson Invitational

TOWSON, MD ... The George Mason women's cross country team opened its 2003 season Saturday by placing fifth among the nine teams at the Towson Invitational in Towson, MD. George Mason scored 108 points to finish behind Hofstra (43), Towson (57), Delaware (79) and Virginia Commonwealth (81).

Junior Sara Hines led the Patriots as she finished 13th overall with a time of 19 minutes, two seconds. She was followed by senior Dana Early, who was 15th in 19:07; senior Rose Moeser, 27th in 19:55; junior Nicole Holifield, 28th in 20:00; and sophomore Jessica Young, 31st in 20:04. For scoring purposes (the placing of the top five finishers determines the team score), Moeser was 25th, Holifield 26th and Young 29th.

The women's team will join the George Mason men in competing at the James Madison Invitational Saturday in Harrisonburg, VA. The men will officially open their season at this meet.
