Three Patriots Earn Women's Volleyball All-CAA Honors

Nov. 15, 2007

NEWARK, Del. - Three George Mason women's volleyball players were selected among the Colonial Athletic Association's best in 2007, as the conference unveiled its All-CAA teams today on the eve of the 2007 CAA Championship. Senior Jaqueline Kohler and sophomore Rebecca Walter were both chosen to the All-CAA second team, while freshman Fernanda Bartels was named to the All-Rookie Team.

Kohler, a repeat honoree after being named second team All-CAA in 2006, and Walter, an All-Rookie team selection a year ago, have combined to form one of the most potent attacks in the conference this season. Walter leads the Patriots and is fourth in the conference with 388 kills, while Kohler trails close behind with 381 kills.

Bartels, a setter from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, has been outstanding in her first year in Green and Gold, as she has accounted for 1,048 assists thus far in 2007. That total is the highest by a freshman setter at Mason since Martyne Schroeder totaled 1,531 in 1994.

The No. 6-seeded Patriots are in action Friday night when they face third-seeded Hofstra at 7 p.m. at Viera Court in the first round of the 2007 CAA Championship.
