Hendricks Named CAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week

April 15, 2008

RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Ryann Hendricks has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. It is the first weekly conference honor of her career.

Hendricks, a Chicago, Ill. native, placed second in the triple jump at the Lou Onesty/Milton Abramson Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. with a leap of 12.30m, an ECAC qualifier. The junior jumped 5.94m in the long jump. Both marks are ECAC qualifiers.

Her performance in the triple jump fell just shy of her personal best, a first-place 12.33m performance at the 2007 CAA Championship, while her mark in the long jump eclipsed her previous personal best of 5.81m, set last season at the Patriot Open Invitational.

Hendricks is the first to earn a weekly award for the Patriot women this season, and the first to do so since classmate Murielle Ahoure was named Track Athlete of the Week on April 3, 2007.

Hendricks and the Patriots will travel to Williamsburg, Va., this weekend to compete for the 2008 CAA Championship, which will be hosted by the College of William & Mary on Friday and Saturday.
