Ackerley Receives Weekly CAA Track and Field Honor

RICHMOND, Va. - The Colonial Athletic Association honored junior Ashley Ackerley (Burke, Va./Randolph), of the George Mason women's track and field team, Tuesday with the CAA Field Athlete of the Week award for her efforts during competition from Apr. 4 to Apr. 10.

Ackerley blew away the field in the discus at the Delaware Invitational, recording a throw of 39.78 meters to win the competition by more than three meters. The effort was less than a meter shy of her CAA season-best performance of 40.34 in the event.

Ackerley also participated in the shot put, earning a 15th place finish with a toss of 10.24m.

George Mason women's track and field team heads to Knoxville, Tenn. to participate in the Sea Rays Relays Wednesday through Saturday, Apr. 13-16.
