Women's Tennis Handles Shepherd With Ease

The Mason women's tennis team defeated Shepherd easily on Tuesday, 7-2. It was the Patriots first home tennis match this season and they improved to 1-1 overall on the year.

In the singles portion, the Patriots nearly went perfect with only one loss. George Mason's Ellen Mathis played the most lopsided match taking a comfortable 6-0, 6-1 win over Lauren Jackson. Mason also had impressive wins from Anita Sager who won her match 6-0, 6-2 over Lindsay Davis, and Alex LaCoste who won her match 6-1, 6-4 over Meredith Scaggs.

In the doubles portion the Patriots showed up strong again, winning two out of three matches. The teams of Julie Moscato/Alicia Van Zandt and Claudia Antezano/Anita Sagar won their matches with identical scores of 8-3. They beat Erin Wells/Amanda Bickerton and Lindsay Davis and Lauren Jackson, respectively.

The Patriots will look to make it two straight as the take on St. Francis (Pa.) College in Fairfax on Saturday.
