Women's Tennis Gets Fifth Win in a Row

April 4, 2008

Fairfax, Va. The George Mason women's tennis team earned their fifth straight victory within the past week and improved to .500 overall on the season at 9-9. Mason won the match 6-0 over Robert Morris. The doubles matches were not played because of inclement weather in the afternoon.

The match was one of the Lady Netter's best performances on the season as they only lost six games all day. Freshman Lindsay Gray paced Mason with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Robert Morris's Delorie in the No. 1 singles position. Aryn Christman and Catherine Crisostomo also won matches with scores of 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 and No. 5 positions respectively. Three Lady Netters earned shut out victories Friday afternoon. Sarah Dieffenbach beat Shaw at the No. 2 position, Stephanie Longueira defeated Dalphon in the No. 4 spot and Ellen Mathis earned the third shutout victory at the No. 6 position over Himmel.

Mason will host Drexel in conference action on Saturday afternoon. The match will begin at 2 p.m. and take place at the Robinson Field Tennis Courts.
