Mason Divers Conclude Competition at Zone Diving Championships

March 15, 2006

Annapolis, Md.--In the second day of competition at the NCAA Zone `A' Diving Championships at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., both junior Colleen Flack (Langhorne, Pa.) and senior Liz Gabriel (Rockville, Md.) placed in the top-18 in the 3-meter diving finals.

Flack placed 14th with a total score of 458.90, while Gabriel finished in 16th as she tallied a score of 450.60. Sophomore Amanda Fielding (Closter, N.J.) was just short of competing in the finals as only the top 18 divers advance to the finals and Fielding placed 19th in the 3-meter trials with a score of 221.00.

Freshman Ryan Metzker (Springfield, Va.) scored 215.15 in the trials of the men's 1-meter diving event, but did not advance to the final round.

Mason's swimming & diving teams have concluded team competition for the 2005-06 season, but junior Tom Koucheravy (Fairfax, Va.) will represent the Patriots at the 2006 Division 1 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Atlanta, Ga. (Mar. 23-25).
