Fairfax, Va.--George Mason freshman Becky Anderson (Oakton, Va.) earned two Colonial Athletic Association honors for her efforts during the 2007 softball campaign as she was named to the All-CAA First Team, as well as the conference all-rookie squad. The teams were voted on by the league's head coaches and the selections were announced at the annual banquet on the eve of the 2007 CAA Softball Championship.

Anderson, who represented Mason as a utility player on both of these teams, played in 50 games this season and ended the year with a .239 batting average. The Virginia native tallied team-highs in RBI (25), as well as home runs (4). Anderson also connected on a team fourth-best 34 hits, which included two doubles and one triple.

In the circle, Anderson finished the year with a 9-15 record, including a 4-8 mark in CAA play. She garnered an overall ERA of 3.60 after pitching a total of just over 145 innings. On the year, Anderson appeared in 33 games as the pitcher, started 16 of those contests and ended the year with a team-high 10 complete games. In addition, Anderson collected one save on the year.

Anderson is no stranger to CAA honors as the rookie earned two, prior to the end of the season awards. First, she was named CAA Rookie of the Week on April 30. Anderson helped the Patriots win their first CAA series of the season with a pair of victories over Delaware, including a 6-3 win on April 28 and a 9-0 shutout victory the proceeding day. Anderson finished the week pitching 19.1 innings, while giving up four earned runs and fanning nine batters. She tossed five shutout innings and only allowed three hits in Mason's nine run win against the Blue Hens. Offensively, the rookie recorded four hits and four RBI on the week for the Patriots.

The following week, Anderson was named CAA co-Player of the Week. She helped the Patriots win their second CAA series of the season with a pair of 1-0 victories over Drexel this past weekend. The freshman recorded a 2-0 record in the circle for the Patriots and earned a perfect 0.00 ERA after 15.1 innings of work. Anderson struck out nine batters and gave up 10 hits with only one extra base tally. The rookie batted .333 (3-for-9) in the three-game series and added the game-winning RBI in the series opener over the Dragons.

This is the first time since 2005 in which Mason has had representatives on the All-CAA First Team, as well as the rookie team. Former shortstop standout, Stacy James, made the first team in 2002, `03 and `05, while Emily Grapel and junior Katlyn Winter were both on the all-rookie squad in 2005.

The Patriots closed out the 2007 campaign with a 19-34 overall record and a 5-16 mark in conference play.
