Women's Soccer Concludes Road Trip to 2-0 Defeat at William & Mary

The George Mason women's soccer team finished off its weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon with a trip to William & Mary and the Patriots were unable to pull off the upset against one of the Colonial Athletic Association's top teams as the Tribe took a 2-0 win over Mason.

The Tribe scored a goal in each half as Claire Zimmeck, William & Mary's All-American, scored from in the 25th minute and in the 64th minute as the Tribe improved to 11-4-1, 6-1-1. Mason fell to 7-8-0, 3-5-0. The Patriots managed just one shot on goal while William & Mary had seven shots on goal.

Zimmeck's goal in the first half came on assists from Katy Winsper and Danielle Axenfeld. The shot came from 10 yards out. The second-half goal had Zimmeck taking the ball from Meredith Brown and scoring from the left side, 18 yards out.

Mason will look to rebound into the win column on Friday when the Patriots play at VCU at 7 p.m.
