Sarah Coughlin returns for her fourth year on the pitch for the Patriots and is expected to be the starter at goalkeeper... Selected as a team captain for 2003 and 2004... Strong, commanding presence as the last line of defense... On George Mason career lists, enters 2004 season ranked second in saves and goalkeeper minutes and is fifth in shutouts... Working on master's degree in secondary education... Earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics in four years.

2003: Team captain... Returned to prominence on the national scene earning several awards... Garnered NSCAA and Soccer Buzz first-team Mid-Atlantic all-Region honors... Received first-team all-Virginia honors from VaSID... Was named to the all-CAA first team at goalkeeper... Made the UNCG/adidas Classic all-tournament team... Concluded the year with 109 saves, the fourth highest single-season total in Mason history... Started all 21 games in goal... Logged 2000 goalkeeper minutes - second most in school history... 2002: Had solid sophomore campaign, resulting in earning All-CAA second-team honors at goalkeeper ... Split most games in goal with senior teammate Naomi Hines, generally playing the second half ... Recorded a 1.71 goals-against average in 17 games, including three starts, and shared four shutouts with Hines ... Allowed 16 goals in 844 minutes and posted 54 saves ... Against CAA opponents, allowed seven goals in 484 minutes for a 1.30 GAA ... Played in all nine regular season games, starting one and playing full game at William & Mary ... Posted 28 saves and shared three shutouts ... Had season-high seven saves at Princeton ... Contributed to offense with an assist on game-tying goal at James Madison after pushing forward late in regulation ... Patriots eventually won game in overtime, 2-1 ... Earned spot on Athletic Director's Honor Roll (both semesters) for outstanding work in the classroom.

2001: Received medical hardship waiver, retaining final three years of eligibility ... Suffered a shoulder injury over the summer and re-aggravated injury early in the season ... Saw action vs. Pennsylvania and Arkansas, recording five saves in 64 minutes ... Earned spot on Athletic Director's Honor Roll (both semesters) and Dean's List (Fall 2001).

2000: Capped outstanding freshman season with multiple honors ... Selected to All-CAA and All-Virginia first teams and to All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team ... Chosen first-team Freshman All-American and third-team regional All-American by Soccer Buzz ... Played in all 21 games, starting 20, and posted 1.12 GAA, allowing 23 goals in 1,855 minutes (third-most in a season in Patriot history) ... Recorded 121 saves (second-most in school history) and 7.25 shutouts (four solo) ... Made nine or more saves in a game five times, including a career-high 15 at Penn State ... Also had 12 saves at Virginia and 10 at Richmond ... Allowed one goal in 259 minutes of action at the CAA Tournament, posting 18 saves in the three games ... Named to all-tournament teams at Virginia Classic and CAA Championship ... Earned spot on Athletic Director's Honor Roll (Fall 2000).

1999: Sat out true freshman season as a redshirt, retaining full eligibility, after injuring shoulder in preseason practice.

Prep/Club: Enjoyed excellent four-year varsity career at Westlake High School ... Earned team and league Most Valuable Player honors in addition to being an all-league selection each season ... Versatile player, playing both in goal and in the field ... Finished career with 790 saves along with scoring 47 goals and dishing out 20 assists ... As a senior, had a hat trick while playing in goal (penalty kick, punt and a throw-in deflecting off a defender) ... Team captain as a senior ... Played club soccer for the Yorktown Jaguars ... Was member of the Region I and Eastern New York Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams.
