
Dentler, Evans, Brady Garner All-State Lacrosse Honors
June 14, 2005 FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason senior lacrosse standout Meg Dentler (Crofton, Md./Arundel) was named first-team all-State, while junior Michele Brady (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI) and senior Brandi Evans (Fort Howard, Md./Sparrows Point) garnered second team honors in voting conducted by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) on Monday (June 13). Twenty-four players comprised the 2005 VaSID University Division I Women's Lacrosse All-State teams. National championship runner-up Virginia led all schools with six honorees, including two-time VaSID State Player of the Year Amy Appelt. UVA head coach Julie Myers also took home the Coach of the Year award for the second consecutive season. James Madison totaled five selections, while Mason tied William & Mary with three. All eight Division I teams had a representative on one of the two teams. Dentler, the first Mason women's lacrosse player ever awarded Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year honors (2005) and a two-time All-American, garnered all-State honors for the fourth straight season. Evans and Brady, who were named to the 2005 all-CAA first team, both receive the all-State nod for the second consecutive year. Brady was also selected a 2005 second-team all-Region honoree by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and US Lacrosse (IWLCA/US Lacrosse). George Mason ended its season with a 7-10 overall record and posted its highest ever CAA finish after tying for second in the overall league standings with a school record 5-2 mark.
