CLEMMONS, N.C. - The George Mason men's cross country team finished 16th overall at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships earlier today. The 10k race was held at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, N.C. and was won by the Tribe of William and Mary. William and Mary squeaked out the victory by one point over the University of Virginia. The Tribe finished with a low score of 66 to beat the Cavaliers' 67. North Carolina State, Duke and Liberty rounded out the top five for the men's team competition. Samuel Chelanga, a sophomore from Liberty, won the meet in a time of 29:53.4 on the men's side. Scott Tekesky paced the Patriots as he finished in 51st place with a time of 32:12.3. Freshman Everett Hackett finished about 30 seconds after Tekesky in 73rd overall. Senior Ryan Murphy crossed the finish line in 33:07.3. James Snyder, Chris Palmer, James Burns and Anthony LaMastro also competed at the meet for Mason. In the women's race, the University of Virginia took home first place with a score of 105.
