Patriots Place Seventh at Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, MD ... The George Mason men placed seventh of 10 teams competing with 207 points at the Maryland Invitational in College Park, MD, on Oct. 11. American was the team champion for the event.

Senior Ricardo Cunningham led the way for the Patriot men over the 8,000-meter course for the first time this season as he placed 31st in 26 minutes, 44.88 seconds to edge sophomore Andy Tramel, who finished 32nd in 26:53.72 after pacing Mason through its first three meets. They were followed by teammates sophomore Dennis Moriarty, who was 41st in 27:12.74; senior Ben Sommers, 65th in 29:13.23; and freshman Bryan MacWilliams, 77th in 31:02.89. For scoring purposes, Cunningham was 29th, Tramel was 30th, Moriarty 36th, Sommers 52nd and MacWilliams 60th.

The George Mason men and women return to action as they compete at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Towson University. The men's race begins at 10 a.m., with the women to take to the course at 11 a.m.
