Patriots Finish 12th at GW Invitational

CENTREVILLE, VA ... The George Mason men's cross country team competed at the George Washington Invitational Saturday at Bull Run Regional Park, located west of Centreville, VA, and scored scored 336 points to finish 12th among 14 teams.

William & Mary won the men's race with 27 points to edge Georgetown (29).

Sophomore Andy Tramel was the leading finisher for the George Mason men for the second straight week as he finished 56th overall (among 168 runners) with a time of 28 minutes, 35.9 seconds over the 8,000-meter course. He was followed by sophomore Dennis Moriarty, who was 85th in 29:39.6; senior Ricardo Cunningham, 111th in 30:24.5; junior Mike Akindele, 141st in 32:27.8; and freshman Bryan MacWilliams, 149th in 33:21.5. For scoring purposes, Tramel was 33rd, Moriarty was 54th, Cunningham 74th, Akindele 87th and MacWilliams 88th.

Both George Mason teams will host the annual Mason Invitational Saturday on the same course at Bull Run Regional Park. The women's race will begin at 10 a.m., with the men to follow at 10:40 a.m.
