
Patriots Fourth at JMU Invitational

NEW MARKET, VA ... The George Mason men's cross country team placed fourth among the five teams competing Saturday at the James Madison Invitational at the New Market Battlefield Park. The Patriots scored 112 points to place behind JMU (21), George Washington (45) and Howard (83). Sophomore Andy Tramel led the George Mason men over the 8,000-meter course by finishing 18th overall with a time of 27 minutes, 58.5 seconds. He was followed by sophomore Dennis Moriarty, who was 23rd in 28:15.4; senior Ricardo Cunningham, 29th in 29:12.3; junior Mike Akindele, 44th in 32:27.1; and freshman Bryan MacWilliams, 48th in 33:23.6. For scoring purposes, Tramel was 12th, Moriarty was 17th, Cunningham 21st, Akindele 30th and MacWilliams 32nd.
The George Mason men will join the Patriot women to compete at the George Washington Invitational Saturday at Bull Run Regional Park, located west of Centreville, VA. This will serve as a tune-up for the Mason Invitational, which will be hosted by the Patriots and run on the same course on Oct. 4.
