Men's Cross Country Struggles at JMU Invite

The men's cross country team participated in the JMU Invitational men's cross country meet Saturday morning at the New Market Battlefield and finished in last place among the five teams. James Madison junior C.W. Moran crossed the finish line nearly four seconds ahead of his nearest competitor and led the Dukes to a first-place team finish.

Top place for the Patriots was a 28th place finish by John Crain (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) at 28:47.8. Ryan Davis (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) covered the 7,900-meter course in 28:56.20 and finished 30th.

JMU scored 20 points to win the five-team meet. Carnegie Mellon was second (39) and was followed by Eastern Mennonite (105), Bridgewater (109) and George Mason (121).

The team will participate in the George Washington Invitational next Saturday at Bull Run Park.
