At JMU: Competed for a year at James Madison before transferring to George Mason when the Dukes dropped their men's track and field program.

Prep: Was an SCCL Conference All-Star as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior at Avon Grove High School... Track team won the conference title as a junior... Won the silver medal for the two-mile and the bronze medal for the mile at the SCCL outdoor meet as a senior.
