John Curtis enters his 14th season as an assistant coach with the Patriots after a stellar career at George Mason. Curtis assists in all aspects of the program. Curtis, 37, was a two-time All-American and three-time NCAA qualifier with the Patriots from 1989-93. He twice was selected the Colonial Athletic Association's Wrestler of the Year, compiled an overall record of 114-30 during his four years at George Mason and won two CAA championships, three Virginia Division I state titles and an NCAA Eastern Regional crown. Curtis has twice been a member of the U.S. National Wrestling Team, in 1996 and 1999, ranking third on the team ladder each year. He has represented the United States several times in international competition. A wrestling and football standout at nearby Fairfax High School, from which he graduated in 1988, Curtis has been inducted into his alma mater's Athletic Hall of Fame. Curtis, who owns Freedom Tree Service, resides in Manassas with his wife, Karen, and their three children. Curtis graduated from George Mason in 1993 with a degree in government and politics. |
