Men's Volleyball Rebounds With Easy Win Over East Stroudsburg

March 8, 2005

Box Score

The George Mason men's volleyball team had lost three of its previous five matches heading into Tuesday night's encounter with East Stroudsburg. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the Patriots were in the mood to take their frustration out on whoever was on the other side of the net. For Mason, that translated into an easy 30-17, 30-21, 30-16 win.

The 14th-ranked Patriots (13-3) hit .500 in the match and .647 in the opening game. They hit .444 in the second game and .421 in the third game while holding East Stroudsburg to a negative hitting percentage in the first and final games.

Every Patriot that had an attack in the match hit .333 or better. Hudson Bates had a match-high 10 kills and .500 hitting percentage while R.J. Goubeaux hit .750 with seven kills, one solo block and eight block assists. Shaun Powell added six kills and four service aces. Those aces came on consecutive points midway through the second game.

Felix Campos entered the match with a rally-scoring school record 1,000 kills and he added five to his career total, along with three service aces. Graham Sheppard added a match-high six digs.

Keith Eckenrode had eight kills for East Stroudsburg as did Jon Stellefson. The Warriors (5-5) hit .037 in the match and had just seven digs to Mason's 22.

Mason takes to the court again on Friday when it hosts New Jersey Institute of Technology at 7 p.m.
