FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Freshman Javan Corniffe posted the fastest 400-meter dash time of his career, finishing the race in 49.47 seconds at the Tyson Invitational, held at the Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark. The time qualifies Corniffe for the IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass. on March 4-5.

Mason's freshman class performed well at the meet. Mutsa Nyakabau ran the 200-meter dash in 22.71 seconds, eclipsing his previous high of 22.89 seconds at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 14.

Along with the freshman, the senior class also represented themselves well. Quentin Matthews competed in the high jump, finishing in 12th place with a mark of 2.03 meters (6 ft. 8 in.). Marc Kellman finished eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 15.42 meters (50 ft. 7.25 in.).

The men will compete along with the women at the Collegiate Open on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the George Mason Fieldhouse. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's pentathlon.
