Mason Men Pull Through for Victory over St. Francis in Men's Tennis

Fairfax, Va. (October 2, 2006) - On Saturday, September 30, the George Mason Men's tennis team pulled through for a close, 4-3, victory over the visiting team from St. Francis College.

Mason and St. Francis split the wins, 3-3, in singles. Earning singles wins for Mason were Stas Budagov over Andre Sandu at the No. 1 position, Daniel Schneider beat Ajay Nune at the No. 2 spot and Jay Freidman over Kyle Primeau at the No. 4 position. Winners for St. Franics included Jeff Seevers over Mason's Jordan Lipstock at the No. 3 spot, Jordan Kowalski beat Eric Vogel at the No. 5 position and Tyler Jones defeated Martin Brown at the No. 6 position.

Doubles play essentially gave the edge to Mason as they won all three doubles matches to give them the winning point in the match. The teams winning during doubles play were Friedman and Lipstock over Sandu and Seevers, Schneider and Budagov over Kowalski and David Kirby and Vogel and Brown defeated Nune and Jones at their respective No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

The George Mason Men's tennis team will compete again on the weekend of October 13th at the Hampton Roads Invitational.
