The George Mason men's tennis team defeated Howard 5-2 Thursday afternoon at Howard's Bannaker Court. Mason improves to 3-7, while Howard drops to 2-11 on the season.

Mason won the four singles matches from #3 through #6. At the #3 position, Jay Friedman defeated Anthony Baldwin 6-3, 6-1 and the Patriot's Jordan Lipstock defeated Chad Jones 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 in their #4 singles match. Matt Vaughn defeated Stephen Surjue 7-6, 6-3 in the #5 singles match, and Martin Brown won the #6 singles match 6-2, 7-6 over Neilahb Avasthi. The top two singles for Mason both lost, as the Bison's Faron Carter defeated Stas Budagov in the #1 singles match 6-2, 6-2 and Othmane Garma defeated Dan Schneider 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 in the #2 singles match.

Mason won 2-of-3 doubles matches to finish off the scoring. Dan Schneider and Stas Budagov won their #2 doubles match, and Matt Vaughn and Martin Brown won their #3 doubles match.

Mason will be back in action on Tuesday, March 27 against Coppin State.
