Knight Named Most Outstanding Swimmer As Patriots Finish Fourth At CAA Championship

Complete Results From Saturday's Finals FAIRFAX, Va. - Junior Eric Knight picked up another first-place finish en route to being named the Colonial Athletic Association Most Outstanding Swimmer, as the 2008 CAA Swimming and Diving Championship came to a close on Saturday evening at Jim McKay Natatorium on the George Mason University campus. UNC Wilmington won the men's title with a score of 702, while the Towson women's team took home the championship with a 753.5 team score. Mason finished in fourth place on the men's side with a score of 480.5, while the women also ended the championship in fourth with a total team score of 438. Knight won three events on the week, culminating with a first place, NCAA B-cut time of 2:00.00 in the 200-yard breaststroke. He is the third-ever Patriot to earn the Most Outstanding Swimmer Award, as 2007 graduate Tom Koucheravy was a three-time winner while Lauren Stinnett picked up the award in 2002. Senior Matt Kane was also a triple-event winner on the week, as he picked up his third gold medal of the championship when he completed the 1,650-yard freestyle in 15:36.89. On the women's side, senior Sarah Bizer took second place in the 100-yard freestyle, making an NCAA B-cut with a time of 50.41 while William & Mary's Katie Radloff earned an A-cut with her winning time of 49.25. Additionally, the women's 400-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Claire Weems, junior Mary Beth Cheslock, sophomore Caitlin Impink, and Bizer finished in third place with a 3:27.08 time.
