Patriots Win at George Washington, 159-105

WASHINGTON, DC...George Mason's swimming and diving program swept George Washington Saturday morning, as the Patriot women won 153-126 and the men prevailed 159-105.

Mason's women close out the dual-meet season 7-1, while the men are 5-2.

For the Patriot men on Saturday, David Cooper and Tim Norton each won two individual events. Cooper won the 100-yard breaststroke (59.97) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.83), while Norton captured the 400-yard IM (4:07.44) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.35).

Additional winners were Eric Stehle (200-yard freestyle, 1:45.26), Nathan Kellogg (100-yard backstroke, 52.87), Wes Ebanks (100-yard butterfly, 52.40), Matt Boyle (1,000-yard freestyle, 10:01.00), Justin Bates (1-meter dive, 261.67) and Cameron Charlton (200-yard breaststroke, 2:06.31).

Lexi Hatfield and Christy Anderson were multi-event winners for the women. Hatfield won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke in 1:08.56 and 2:28.52, respectively. Anderson took the 400-yard IM (4:36.26) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:37.15).

In diving, Ashley Craw qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships in the 1-meter with her event-winning score of 277.50.

Additional winners were Emily Welty (50-yard freestyle, 25.35), Brittany East (50-yard freestyle, 26.14), Katie Swearingen (200-yard butterfly, 2:09.35), Sam Ladeveze (100-yard freestyle, 54.23) and Jamie Downing (3-meter dive, 288.22).

 

 

The CAA Championships, which will be hosted by George Mason Feb. 19-22, are the next event for the Patriots.
