COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After advancing past the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship for the first time since the 1996 season, Colonial Athletic Association Champion George Mason travels to College Park, Md. to take on the Atlantic Coast Conference Champion and second-seeded Maryland Terrapins in a 7 p.m. match on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Ludwig Field. The Patriots enter the match with a 14-6-2 record and eight-match winning streak while the Terrapins enter Tuesday's contest with an 18-3-0 record and 11 consecutive victories.

Tickets to Tuesday's match at Maryland cost $10 for adults and $5 for youth and senior citizens as well as students. Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here.

Mason advanced to the second round with a 1-0 shutout of Ivy League Champion Penn on Friday at George Mason Stadium. Following a scoreless first half, the Patriots scored the lone goal of the match only 1:45 after the intermission when senior forward Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe found freshman midfielder Eber Martinez open in the middle of the field. After gathering the pass from Adjeman-Pamboe, Eber Martinez launched a shot from 25 yards out that curved into the upper-left corner of the net for his second goal in the past three matches. Eber Martinez was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Monday for his efforts in the win.

With Friday's victory, Mason registered its 14th win of the season, the most since the 1996 season when the team went 14-6-3 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 1-0 win at perennial powerhouse Virginia in the first round. The Patriots lost to eventual national champion St. John's 2-1 on a late goal in the second round that season. During its current eight-match winning streak, Mason has outscored opponents 20-4.

Maryland received a bye to the second round after receiving the second seed in the tournament. The Terrapins took the 2008 ACC title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with three consecutive 1-0 shutouts at the ACC Men's Soccer Championship in Cary, N.C. Maryland defeated North Carolina in the quarterfinals, Boston College in the semifinals and Virginia in the championship match. The Terps have not lost a match since Oct. 3 at Clemson.

Both teams are nationally ranked heading into the match. George Mason is ranked 18th by Soccer America and in the others receiving votes section of the NSCAA/adidas and College Soccer News polls. Maryland is ranked third in all three of the aforementioned polls.

The Terrapins are 15th in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 2.05 goals per game. Leading the way is junior midfielder/forward Jeremy Hall, a First-Team All-ACC selection, who paced the Terps' attack with 31 points and 13 goals, including five game-winners. Hall added five assists during the 2008 season. Freshman forward Casey Townsend chipped in 10 goals and four assists for a total of 24 points. Another freshman, Zac MacMath, is the last line of defense for Maryland. MacMath has compiled a 14-1 record and eight shutouts in goal, while ranking eighth in the nation in goals against average (0.52).

The Patriots' potent offense led the Colonial Athletic Association in shots (369), points (113), goals (38), assists (37) and assists per game (1.68). Senior forward and First-Team All-CAA selection Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe leads all conference players in points (25), points per game (1.14), game-winning goals (4) and assists (7), and is tied for the top spot in the conference in goals (9). Adjeman-Pamboe has eight goals and five assists in the past eight matches.

George Mason's defense has recorded 10 shutouts this season, including six in the past eight matches. In those eight matches, Mason has surrendered a total of four goals, two of which came as a result of penalty kicks in the CAA Semifinal against William and Mary. Junior goalkeeper Sean Kelley has been tough to score on with a 0.87 goals against average and 75 saves in 20 starts.

With Friday's win, Mason improved to 5-9 all-time in NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship play. Mason has met Maryland once before in the tournament, taking a 2-1 overtime win in the first round of the 1986 NCAA Tournament. George Mason is 5-7-1 against Maryland in the all-time series. The two teams played each other last season, with the Terrapins taking a 3-0 victory in College Park, Md. on Sept. 9.
