Edgar Tabbed Third-Team All-CAA

Nov. 15, 2007

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Sophomore midfielder Richard Edgar (Mechanicsville, Md./Edison Academic Center) was selected Third-Team All-CAA for his play during the 2007 season. The team was selected by the conference's 12 head coaches and was announced on Thursday night on the eve of the semifinals and finals of the CAA Men's Soccer Championship in Virginia Beach, Va.

Edgar started 17 matches in his second year with the Patriots, tallying a goal and an assist at the midfield position. He was a major contributor in Mason's 3-0 victory over Howard at the 2007 adidas D.C. College Cup, scoring a goal on his way to earning All-Tournament honors. Edgar's Third-Team All-CAA selection follows up a fantastic freshman season in which he was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team after finishing the year with two game-winning goals.

In addition to the All-CAA Team, the conference also announced its major award winners on Thursday. Senior midfielder Pat Healey of Towson was named the Player of the Year, Old Dominion senior David Horst repeated as the Defender of the Year, forward CJ Sapong of James Madison earned Rookie of the Year honors and Lew Meehl of Drexel was tabbed the CAA Coach of the Year.
