Carlin-Voigt Promoted to Top Assistant Position with the Men's Soccer Program
April 20, 2009
FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason men's soccer head coach Greg Andrulis announced today that Nick Carlin-Voigt has taken over the top assistant position on his coaching staff. The position was most recently held by Clint Peay, who departed to take over as the head coach at the University of Richmond following George Mason's 2008 CAA Championship season. Carlin-Voigt, who previously served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Mason, recently completed his second year as an assistant for the men's team, helping the Patriots capture their first conference title since 1989. The 2008 team finished the season ranked in the top-25 in the country in the final College Soccer News poll and won the CAA conference tournament for the first time in school history. "We are thrilled that Nick has decided to continue his tremendous work here at George Mason," Andrulis said. "Nick has already made a significant impact and we are sure that he will continue to help us reach our goals for the Mason Soccer Program. Nick has a proven track record as one of the best recruiters in the country. His experience as a soccer coach, recruiting coordinator and soccer conditioning specialist makes him uniquely qualified for this position." Carlin-Voigt has emerged as one of the most talented and respected assistant coaches in the country. The 2008 recruiting class was ranked 33rd in the country by College Soccer News and consisted of two US U-17 National Team players and one U-18 National Team player who was also named a Parade All-American. The recruiting class was considered the most highly-regarded class in school history and it paid off as Mason had one of the most impressive one-year turnarounds in college soccer.
