Player Profile

Position:
Vol. Asst. Coach

David Tenney is in his second season working with the George Mason men's soccer team. Tenney will pull double duty this year, as he will work with the goaltenders and structuring the fitness training for both the men's and women's squads.

Tenney is currently the Technical Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Washington Freedom Soccer Club, where he has coached since 2003 . In addition, Tenney is the Director of the Maryland Girls Olympic Development Program, which he began in August 2004. The MSYSA Girls' ODP program won two consecutive ODP National Championships under Tenney's direction, with the Maryland 87's winning a title in 2005, and the Maryland 90 team recently sharing a Co-National Championship in 2006.

Most recently, Tenney played for the Baltimore Blast of the NPSL from Oct. 1998-May 2000 where he saw action in 21 games. During the 1998 season, Tenney started 23 of 25 games for the Baton Rouge Bombers (EISL) and was selected to the league's All-Star Second Team. Other professional experience for Tenney: Washington Warthogs (May 1994-Jan. 1998) and the German 4th Division (May 1992-94).

Tenney played for Virginia Tech from 1988-92 and was named Metro Conference Defensive MVP (1988). In addition, Tenney served as team captain his last two seasons with the Hokies. Tenney received his B.I.S. in Coaching Science from Mason in 2005, and is currently pursuing his Master's in Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion.

Tenney holds multiple international coaching licenses, including the NSCAA Premier license, the Czech Republic `A' license, the UEFA `B' license, and the KNVB International diploma.
