Golf Stands in Fifth Entering Sunday's Final Round at the CAA Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va - The Patriots finished the second round of the CAA Men's Golf Championship at the Golden Horseshoe and stand tied for fifth place with Drexel going into the final round on Sunday. The Patriots began the day in sixth place seven strokes off first-round leader Drexel on the 6,738-yard 71 par Golf Course.

Mason's Marshall Tinsley and Tyler Frank both stand tied for 11th with two other players at four-over par. Tinsley has carded back-to-back 73s. Frank started the day one-under par, but shot a five-over par 76 today. Only five players are currently under par for the tournament.

The Patriots J.J. Amoruso recorded a three-over par 74 and cut two strokes off his first round to stand tied for 24th. Greg Brouse also played better on day two shooting a 74, cutting six strokes off his day one score to to finish tied for 46th. Clark Bixler finished with a 82 today and is in 48th place.

Georgia State Senior Joel Sjoholm will enter the final round nine-under par with a combined total of 133 to top the leader board. The Seahawks are led by junior Will Shambley who has a two-day score of 136 and stands second among the individuals, followed by Paladino's overall score of 138. Drexel junior Sean Sementez (140) stands in fourth and VCU freshman Mark Jargen (141) complete the top-five golfers headed into the final round.

Georgia State shot 280 as a team on Saturday, 4-under par, to lead the tournament with a total score of 569, 1-over par, while William & Mary's Brent Paladino's recorded a round low 65 on day two.

UNC Wilmington stands second with a combined score of 584, followed closely by Old Dominion with a two-round score of 585. Following Mason and Drexel is VCU (593) at seventh, Towson eighth and Delaware (600) stands at ninth. James Madison (607) and Hofstra (612) are 10th and 11th respectively. The final round of the tournament will tee-off at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
