
Mason Golf Stands in 6th after Day One at CAA Championship

PINEHURST, N.C. (April 14, 2006) - The George Mason golf team stands in sixth place after the first round of competition at the 2006 CAA Men's Golf Championship on Pinehurst No. 6. Newcomer to the CAA, the Georgia State Panthers hold a nine-stroke lead over second-place VCU. James Madison's Scott Marino recorded the day's low score with a 3-under 68, while Georgia State's Mark Haastrup and VCU's Manuel Relancio each fired a 1-under 70. Senior Mike Kirby leads the Patriots with a 1-over par 72 and stands in seventh place as an individual. Junior Daniel Hurley is six strokes behind Kirby with a 41-37=78 and is tied for 22nd. JJ.
