Pearson Again Named CAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

George Mason freshman forward Ryan Pearson has played collegiate basketball for just three weeks and he's already twice been honored for his play. Pearson was named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday after leading the Patriots in scoring as Mason went 2-0.

Pearson scored 13.5 points per game while grabbing 4.0 rebounds and shooting 62.5 percent from the field. He also had two assists, a block and a steal while also going 7 of 11 from the free throw line. He did all that while playing less than 20 minutes per game.

Pearson played 15 fabulous minutes off the bench against Mount St. Mary's, scoring 14 points with five rebounds and two assists. He was 5 of 7 from the field and 4 of 7 from the line. Against Ohio, he played 24 minutes and had 13 points and three rebounds to go along with a block. He was 5 of 9 from the field and 3 of 4 form the line.

On the year, Pearson is averaging 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and he is shooting 51.7 percent from the field. He is also third on the team in free throw attempts going 12 of 18 from the charity stripe.

Pearson previously was named CAA Rookie of the Week after the season opener at Vermont when he scored 13 points and had six rebounds.
