Triple X ESPN Radio to Broadcast George Mason Men's Basketball Games

Nov. 9, 2006

Fairfax, Va. (November 9, 2006)-- The 2006-2007 season of George Mason men's basketball games will be broadcast on Red Zebra Broadcasting's flagship Triple X ESPN Radio (730 AM, 92.7 FM, 94.3 FM), according to George Mason University athletic director Tom O'Connor, Bennett Zier CEO of Red Zebra Broadcasting and the Leffler Agency's broadcast subsidiary, Leffler Sports. The station will carry all 29 regular-season games, the Patriots games in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament and any postseason games the team could play in 2007, including games played in the NCAA and NIT tournaments.

"We are pleased to announce Triple X ESPN Radio will be the flagship station this season," O'Connor said. "This significantly enhances the basketball team's exposure and will enable our fans a better opportunity to follow the Patriots."

"We are very excited to have the Mason Nation listening to The New Triple X ESPN Radio for this year's Patriots games," Zier said. "After last year's run to the Final Four we know just how much fun these guys can have playin' ball and our community is filled with anticipation for the 2006-07 season!"

"Leffler Sports is excited about this partnership between Red Zebra and our client George Mason basketball. The Red Zebra broadcast relationship is another step in the elevation of the George Mason Patriots basketball brand in the greater Washington-Northern Virginia market," said Bob Leffler, president of the parent company, The Leffler Agency, Inc. of Baltimore and Tampa.

Triple X ESPN Radio, hit the airways this past July and is the broadcast home of the Washington Redskins. The station has ESPN national programming and personalities, including Mike and Mike in the Morning, Colin Cowherd and Dan Patrick. They cover the local sports scene, as well with sports updates and Hall of Fame Redskin John Riggins afternoon show.

Mason basketball fans will have the opportunity to listen to weekly interviews with head coach Jim Larranaga on "The John Riggins Show" throughout the Patriots season. The partnership will include cross promotions with Triple X ESPN Radio, as well giving the Patriots increased awareness in the market.

United Bank, a longtime supporter of George Mason University, has signed on to be the official sponsor of the radio broadcast. "On behalf of United Bank and all of our employees, I would like to say that it is truly an honor to be the official radio sponsor for one of the premier basketball programs in the country. We look forward to another great year of basketball from the Mason Nation," said Lawrence K. Doll, Chairman of United Bank.

The broadcast schedule begins this Saturday, November 11 at 3:00 p.m. when the team opens the 2006-07 season at Cleveland State. Bill Rohland will be the voice of the Patriots for the second straight season, his eighth overall with the program, having served as color analyst for six seasons. Ric Wilson, a former standout for the Patriots, will handle color commentary in his first season on air with Mason.
