Smith Vying for ESPN Honor

Jan. 23, 2008

George Mason men's basketball player Dre Smith set an NCAA record on Saturday going 10 of 10 from 3-point range, the most 3-pointers in a game without a miss. Now the junior guard, who was named CAA Co-Player of the Week, is going for another honor.

Smith is a nominee for this week's ESPN Big Man on Campus. With voting soon to close, Smith is in second trailing Texas Tech coach Bobby Knight, who earned his 900th coaching win. Smith has 28% of the vote while Knight has 29%. Maryland's James Gist is third with 26% after scoring 22 points in a win over No.1 North Carolina. Smith is also second in the state of Virginia, trailing Gist.

Voting can be done on ESPN's men's college basketball front page.
