Bour, Krieger Named to Preseason Wallace Watch List

The 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award preseason watch list was announced early Friday morning and a pair of Mason players made the cut as senior outfield Scott Krieger and junior first baseman Justin Bour are among the nation's top players heading into the season. Krieger, a senior who leads the Patriots in career home runs, was named first-team ABCA All-East and first-team All-Virginia last year. He was named to the preseason Wallace Watch List last year. In 2008, he batted .381 with 21 homers, 60 RBI and a .761 slugging percentage. In 2007, he hit .365 with 20 homers and 68 RBI. He is on pace to break the school records for hits, RBI, runs scored and total bases while having a shot at both the games played and games started records.
Bour was All-CAA last year and led the Patriots in batting average, RBI and hits last year. Bour was named to the midseason Wallace Watch List last year. In 2008, Bour batted .398 with 15 homers, 65 RBI and a .665 slugging percentage. After two years, he's among the school's all-time leaders in home runs, RBI, batting average and slugging percentage. Bour and Krieger are two of five CAA players selected to the preseason Watch List. The others include Bradley Logan of Georgia State, Turner Phelps of James Madison and Sheldon McDonald of Northeastern.
