Sean Swetnam enters his second season with the Patriots and he is expected to pitch out of the bullpen.

2008: Appeared in two games for the Patriots, both in relief roles... Was 0-1 on the year and worked just three innings... First collegiate appearance came March 5 at Richmond... Took the loss allowing seven runs in one and one-third innings... Walked two, struck out two and gave up six hits... Second appearance was much stronger, going 1.2 innings in relief against Old Dominion on March 27... Allowed one run on four hits with one strikeout in that performance.

High School: Played three years of baseball and one year of soccer at Eleanor Roosevelt High School... Won a state title and three region titles while being named team MVP three times... Had a career record of 24-2 with a 1.12 ERA, 236 strikeouts and 42 walks in 150.1 innings... Also batted .398... Selected D.C. Examiner Player of the Year for 2007 as well as the Washington Post Prince George's County Player of the Year and the Gazette Newspapers Player of the Year.

Personal: Full name is Sean Alan Swetnam... Born June 8, 1989... Father is Stan Swetnam, who played baseball and basketball and the University of Maryland... Also recruited by Towson, Mount St. Mary's, Limestone and Catholic... Major is finance.
