TUTORING GUIDELINES FOR THE STUDENT-ATHLETE (TUTEE)
Step One: Consult the list of Tutoring Centers Staffed by Academic Departments (pages 15-16 of this guide) to determine if tutoring is available for the course. Step Two: Inform your professor/instructor that you are having difficulty with the material being covered in the course. Step Three: If Department tutoring is not available for a particular course, ask your professor/instructor if the Department can provide any assistance. In some departments, professors and/or teaching assistants conduct tutoring sessions on an as-needed basis. If the professor/instructor or teaching assistant is not available, ask the professor to recommend either a graduate student or an undergraduate student. Provide the Tutoring Coordinator with the student's name and she will follow up with the student. If the student is interested, the Athletic Department will hire the student. If a tutor referral is not provided, request a tutor from Academic Support.
Step One: Complete a Tutor Request Form. Fill in the information completely. Once a tutor has been assigned, you will complete the reverse side of the form, the Tutoring Contract, with your tutor. Step Two: Review your request with the Tutor Coordinator. Indicate to the Tutor Coordinator days/times preferred by completing Tutee Availability Form. Step Three: Tutor Coordinator will provide the following information: A. A list of available tutors for the desired subject. B. If a tutor is not currently available for the subject, the Tutor Coordinator will consult with professors and other University resources to find a suitable match. C. The Tutor Coordinator will inform you within 48 hours the status of your request.
