Practice - You are eligible to practice if you are enrolled in a minimum full time program of studies leading to a Bachelor's degree as defined by George Mason.
Competition - You are eligible to compete if you:
Have been admitted as a regular student seeking a Bachelor's degree according to the published entrance requirements of George Mason;
Be in good academic standing as defined by George Mason;
Be enrolled in a minimum full time program of studies and maintain satisfactory progress towards your degree (see below).
Continuing Eligibility
Progress-Toward-Degree Requirements
- Must pass Six (6) hours each academic term of full-time enrollment
- Must pass eighteen (18) hours during any two full-time terms of enrollment
- Must pass twenty four (24) hours prior to your third (3rd) full-time term
- Must successfully complete 40% of degree requirements prior to fifth (5th) full-time term of enrollment
- Which means that you must declare a major prior to fifth (5th) semester
- Must successfully complete 60% of degree requirements prior to seventh (7th) full-time term of enrollment
- Must successfully complete 80% of degree requirements prior to ninth (9th) full-time term of enrollment
- Maintain a GPA of at least 1.800 after your second full-time semester of enrollment
- Maintain a GPA of at least 1.900 after your fourth full-time semester enrollment
- Maintain a GPA of at least 2.00 after your sixth full-time semester of enrollment
The following are rules established by the NCAA to make sure that everyone competing in intercollegiate competition remains an amateur:
Within your sport, you are not eligible for participation if you have ever:
- Taken pay or the promise of pay for competing in that sport
- Agreed (orally or in writing) to compete in professional athletics in that sport
- Played on any professional athletics team as defined by the NCAA in that sport
- Used your athletics skill for pay in any form in that sport
In any sport, you are not eligible if:
- You accept any pay for promoting a commercial product or service
- Allowed your name or picture to be used for promoting a commercial product or service
- Paid at a rate higher than the going rate
- Paid for work you did not perform
- Paid for the value placed on your reputation, fame, or personal following
