The Patriot Center is a superb 10,000-seat arena and home of the men's and women's basketball teams. George Mason fans have watched the Patriot men earn four postseason appearances, twice in the NCAA Tournament and twice in the NIT, in the past six seasons, while the women advanced to the WNIT in 2004 and 2001. In 2001, the men set a facility record and had one of the largest on-campus crowds in Virginia state basketball history when nearly 10,000 fans cheered on the Patriots over James Madison (2/16/01). The CAA Women's Basketball Championship will be held for the first time on Mason's campus this season, March 9-12 2005. In addition, the facility hosts over 100 events per year including concerts and other live performances. |
