Become a Member!
It is easy to become a Patriot Club member. The Patriot Club fund-raising year runs from July 1 through June 30. Gifts can be made to the annual campaign to support scholarships and operational costs for our sports programs.
"Friends Of" is a part of the annual campaign, supporting a specific sport's budget.
Benefits vary depending on your level of giving. Foremost, you benefit by knowing that you are helping to provide an unparalleled athletic and academic experience for a Mason student-athlete.
All gifts can be given by cash, check, stock, Visa or MasterCard. A pledge and/or gift immediately establishes priority points and benefits associated with giving levels. All gifts allow donors to be eligible for certain benefits, such as basketball tickets and parking. Contact the Patriot Club at 703.993.3215, or via email at MasonPC@gmu.edu to become a member. If you would like to donate online, please click here.
In addition, the Patriot Club supports all our student-athletes through the following programs:
Green Coat Society
The Patriot Club's Green Coat Society includes friends of George Mason athletics who wish to see the program excel in addition to having the financial means to make a major impact on the program's advancement. Green Coats are donors to Mason athletics who contribute a minimum of $5,000 annually and who will make a three-year commitment at this annual level (total of at least $15,000). Benefits include priority seating privileges for George Mason post-season events, priority ticket opportunities (NCAA tickets, other Patriot Center events and concerts, etc.), publicity and recognition, special Patriot Green Coat, and other special considerations.
Capital Projects
The Athletics program is committed to building and maintaining the finest facilities in the country. The Patriot Club coordinates the fund-raising efforts for these projects. For more information contact Jennifer Montgomery at (703) 993-3217 or jmontgo2@gmu.edu.
Planned Giving
Although cash, checks and credit cards are the most common ways for donors to contribute to the Patriot Club, they certainly are not the only ways. Appreciated securities, real estate, and pre-approved gifts-in-kind are certainly other forms of gifts that are accepted. You can also play an important role in Mason Athletics' future by including a gift to the Patriot Club in your estate plans. Such gifts can result in significant tax advantages for your estate. A planned gift includes contributions made through a bequest, charitable lead trust, charitable remainder trust, life insurance policy, individual retirement account, charitable gift annuity, pooled income fund, and combinations of these gift vehicles.
We would be happy to talk to you or your advisor about opportunities to support Mason through planned or deferred giving. Please contact Jennifer Montgomery at (703) 993-3217 or jmontgo2@gmu.edu.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Many corporations match gifts made by their employees. Contact your employer's human resources department for information about their matching gift program and to obtain the proper forms. Please check your company's criteria to be sure they will match an athletics-related gift.
Special Events
The Patriot Club hosts a number of events throughout the year in efforts to fundraise and promote Mason athletics. These must-see events build excitement and flair that aid each year in the overall hype and environment of Mason Madness! A few of the most noteworthy and established events include our Annual Fall Golf Outing, our Annual Alumni-Athlete Golf Outing held in the Spring, and the Aimee Willard Memorial 5K Run/Walk. Other events include bus trips for men's basketball games, basketball watch parties and special invitations!
The Patriot Club recognizes the importance of these donations to each of our teams and hopes sport-specific donations are at least equally matched by unrestrictive gifts to the annual athletic scholarship drive, which benefits Mason student-athletes across the board.
Field House Passes
Passes to the Field House may be purchased for $500, $400 for Mason alumni, and $200 for Mason alumni who have graduated within the past 12 months. Additional family members may join at a further discounted rate. Patriot Club points and annual giving-level credit of $100 is awarded for each Field House pass purchased. Field House passes cover the use of the track, courts, weight room and exercise equipment.
Membership to the Recreation Sports Complex is available to Patriot Club members for $500 per pass. Although this benefit is not entirely tax deductible, the revenue generated will continue to supports the Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund. Please call the Patriot Club office at (703) 993-3218 for more information, or go to the Fieldhouse Application.
