Second Straight Sell Out at This Year's 23rd Annual Alumni-Athlete Golf Outing!
On Monday, June 14, 2010, the Patriot Club hosted the 23rd Annual Alumni-Athlete Golf Outing sponsored by the Anderson Company at Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia. This year's event raised approximately $35,100 for the Mason Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.
Mason alumni-athletes, administrators, staff and supporters made up the 36 foursomes who competed in the event, marking the second straight year the outing has sold out. The morning shotgun was followed by a social hour combined with a silent auction on the club's patio with music provided by a quartet of Green Machine members. Dinner and the awards ceremony completed the day. Additionally, a number of raffle prizes donated by various local businesses and patrons were given away to lucky ticket holders.
In the tradition of the Alumni-Athlete Golf Outing, support from the entire University and the Mason athletic department was evident. In addition, alumni-athletes represented the following sports: baseball, men's basketball, golf, women's soccer, softball, lacrosse, men's volleyball, and wrestling took part in the event. With the highest amount of alumni representation at this year's golf outing, Baseball received a special thanks and a percentage of the tournament proceeds to use for their operating budget.
Prizes and awards were given to the top three foursomes and each contest hole winner. Special congratulations go to Jim Anderson for his Hole-In-One on hole 11.
